Mr. Prasad, congratulations! It is heartening to see an employee of an organization go above and beyond his regular official commitments to help improve the satisfaction of his customers! And when we are talking about an employee of a govt. organization that has been berated for its poor customer service, it seems incredible.
You have changed our perception of a govt. employee!

I found a few small problems in the Technical section - the links to different modems in the Dialer Mode config and Router mode config pages are broken.

Dear Prasad, my bb connection was disconnecting almost every minute. after reading the contents at you site, i could fix the problem of my bb connection. Th problem was with the cordless phone connected before the splitter. After disconnecting the cordles phone, the bb is working fine and it is really fast.

hello sir,i am pleased with your service.my plan home 500 ,i have a problem with the net connection,i.e it disconnects within 15-20 minutes after the computer is started n i remove the power pin of router and reconeect it which may or maynot fix it and this repeats again.please suggest a remedy asap. Dear Sir,
Thank you for creating this site, which is a big help to new dataone users. I am all the more grateful for you supporting material on the GNU/Linux operating system.

It would be nice if you could add some more material on common tasks such as configuring exim to use the dataone smtp server as a smarthost. This will allow linux users to send mails form there desktop using any email client such as evolution. This kind of facility is available to Microsoft Windows users using outlook and Windows lives but obviously is not supported under linux.

In debian and ubuntu there is a easy script (dpkg-reconfigure exim4-config) for exim4 configuration. However this does not seem to be enough for dataone as the dataone smtp server uses authentication. I am unable to determine what kind of authentication and how to enable it in exim.

Dear Prasad Sir, I have problem of GENERIC HOST coming very frequently, it closes all application after the error. Antivirus and spyware are licensed copy, hardware engineer says the problem is with BSNL link, he took the system and it was working fine with Airtel Broadband. Request your help !!

HI,one thing i want to share with bsnl. i am tech support of bsnl. the as borrowing some product from utstarcom but every time is getting authentication failure in the status why it is happening for every time, if u enter once again user name and password also same error is occureding why it is happening?
secondly every time cusotmer will get ppp down why it is happening i required exacet reson of the question please send me some replay for this i hope i will get answer....

Thank you very much for this website. I was able to configure my router UTSTAR for bridging without mistake and happy over the result.May I request you to ask your superiors in BSNL to link your website in their official website, so a lot of people can make use of these guides. BTW, I could not see tutorial for Dlink GLB 502T, it is greyed out. Please provide the guide for configuring Dlink modems. Thanks in advance and for doing a great job! The guides are simple. I wish to know how to allow ports in UTStar modem in PPPOE mode, please post if it is not too much problem,

Now i want to need your help that me and my friend avail the service of Dataone 750 Unlimited Plan (256 kbps). Speed downloading in my friend's computer always between 150 kbps to 200 kbps. But downloading speed in my computer never exceed 30 kbps. I have checked my Line cable for earthing but there were no problem found as such. I reinstalled my window xp and also uninstalled my antivirus but problem was not resolved. What should i do? Please give me the solution of this problem if you have......I m heartly obelized to you.

DONT SHARE PASSWORDS, CREATE STRONG ONES
Treat your passwords and pass phrases with as much care as the information that they protect.

• Don't reveal them to others. Keep your passwords hidden from friends or family members (especially children) who could pass them on to other less trustworthy individuals. Internet "phishing" scams use fraudulent e-mail messages to entice you into revealing your user names and passwords, steal your identity, and more. Learn more about phishing scams and how to deal with online fraud.

• Change your passwords regularly. This can help keep criminals and other malicious users unaware. The strength of your password will help keep it good for a longer time. A password that is shorter than 8 characters should be considered only good for a week or so, while a password that is 14 characters or longer (and follows the other rules outlined above) can be good for several years.

• Do not type passwords on computers that you do not control. Computers such as those in Internet cafés, computer labs, shared systems, kiosk systems, conferences, and airport lounges should be considered unsafe for any personal use other than anonymous Internet browsing. Do not use these computers to check online e-mail, chat rooms, bank balances, business mail, or any other account that requires a user name and password. Criminals can purchase keystroke logging devices for very little money and they take only a few moments to install. These devices let malicious users harvest all the information typed on a computer from across the Internet—your passwords and pass phrases are worth as much as the information that they protect.

Thank you Mr. Prasad for taking the effort to provide this site, which is very educative. You have made me believe that there are still honest, dedicated people in the Govt departments than the dishonest sloths who are deadwood.

BSNL bangalore is a classical case of inefficiency. No one bothers to respond to the queries of the customers. The PGMs office has a PRO. The reality is that the PRO's telephone is inaccessible, what an irony.

I remember having called the call center (1500) telling them about my inability to connect to the net. Can you believe the shocking reply - the person at the other end told me to download the new version of internet explorer. How on earth can I download when in the first place I cannot connect.

Cordless Telephone connected to the splitter resulting in unstable ADSL link lamp was effectively resolved by changing telephone wire polarity. It was due interferences for conflict of polarity of DC current from cordless phone and from telephone wire.

Sub:- Ghost Billing of Data one on Telephone 24467161

We are using DataOne internet on our 24467161 since last 3 years happily and satisfied. In fact we are the advocates of BSNL Data one internet services.
We are using Anti spyware " Super anti spyware also.

Unfortunately, for the month of June 2009 we got huge usage bill. There is 1.231
GB send volume, which is unnatural and suspicious. We just send few emails and have no FTP accounts or services to upload files. This can be verified by our past
usage history.

Even in present month of July 2009, it is showing huge send till 24/07/2009 itself.

Kindly look into the matter and do the needful. Please issue the revised bill to
enable us in time payment of the bill.

while searching to find out solution to the error 676 of bsnl broadband connection, accidentally i have come across this site.

this is a very good creation.

for the past about 3 years i have been asking the bsnl people of vijayawada to provide me parameters for configuring the modems supplied by them.

though they happened to explain while configuring, i could not note or follow them perfectly.

it is here, on your website, i found the configuration parameters to my joy and happiness.

Mr. Prasad,

I felt great on reading the contents displayed on your site. And i think i will find them helpful.
In your "Common Error" section, you have mentioned Error No 691 part 7 as Unusual Error, my Dataone connection is going through this error right now and i suppose its the unusual Error type 7(which you must mark now as not so unusual). For now i am posting through dial-up, as dialup was the first option to connect to internet and is still today(specifically today) the last option to connect to internet.

In troubleshooting this disconnection type error, i made several calls to bsnl call center, and even talked to technicians. Lastly in afternoon i cleared my doubt on your 691 error type 1. And my ID PASSWORD are correct. So in the end it seems to me the Type 7 one.(yes its not working through bridging mode).

A great thanks to you. And to mention, your website is a perfect guide. And follows a step by step process under troubleshooting.

I wish you were the Commander General of TroubleShooting Of Bsnl Broadband.
I am not joking, you can understand this expression when you are calling the guys on duty from 10 days to figure out the problem.

Lastly, a note. In my experience of internet, i have seen that people are using forums to state content as problems and solutions. As a effect i see people who write guides/articles(in full knowedge) to display problems and solutions are decreasing. So forums are like wastage of time as there are problems more and no solutions to them. So i will say i appreciate the value of your writing here.

i could find some instructions on configuring in ubuntu, but i could not follow them (me being not well acquainted with computers).

particularly where i could not understand was; suppose in windows xp, where we go: "start-run" part.

will you please suggest how to do this in ubuntu and also how to configure EVDO card ?

One article that might be of use to other readers, and myself as well, is on the actual settings for putting up a hardware/software wireless/wired network. I have a type IV modem but have so far not succeeded in establishing a connection between my wired desktop PC and the wireless laptop, even though both are connecting to the Broadband internet service via the modem.

I have been a BSNL customer for two years and of late my modem is disconnecting very frequently. I have been searching on the web for a solution and came across your site. I am going to try some of the settings you have mentioned. Needless to say, BSNL technitian is of no help.
